Aston Martin DBS

Thursday, 2 September 2010 08:28 by Mark

Pictured here is Liverpool ace Fernando Torres picking up a few points.

We did a reg check and he's driving a 6 litre Aston Martin DBS, V12 380BHP engine. It's pretty fast by all accounts...

Super Subway

Friday, 26 March 2010 08:54 by Mark

Here at MicksGarage we've always been partial to a good Subway sub. My favourite is the steak & cheese, but some of the others prefer the chicken ranch. In keeping with our 'Free Friday' Facebook and Twitter promotions, Subway just sent us over a metre-long party sub for lunch. Fair play to Subway Main Street Leixlip - what a fresh and tasty sandwich it proved to be!

So it was tools down in the Garage at lunch today as we munched and crunched our way through it - I've never seen a metre long sandwich polished off so fast. It was a testament to the sandwich-making talent of Subway and also the hunger of the MicksGarage crew, who had quite literally starved themselves in anticipation.

Note to other companies: If you want to carry on the spirit of our 'Free Friday' giveaways and send us some free products, don't be shy. We promise to provide honest and impartial reviews.

Take the Haynes Challenge

Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:41 by Mark

This month we're encouraging everyone to take the 'Haynes Build Your Own Engine' Challenge.

It’s loads of fun for young and old and it’s a great educator about the workings of an engine. There’s no pressure in taking the challenge, it’s not a race and there are no finishing times requested. It’s designed to be taken at your leisure. The engine is a simplified version of a real car engine and the model is designed to be fun to put together for adults / kids (over ten yrs) or to teach your kids how a full-size four-stroke car engine works. It's a great starting point for anyone who is curious about engines.

Beware of fraudsters

Wednesday, 30 September 2009 09:56 by Mark

Beware of people who say they're from the Lottery and promiise you that you've won 1.5million dollars and all you have to do to get the money is wire 500dollars to them through Western Union. We've had a particularly persistent one trying his damndest to defraud us this week. This is his photo proof that the money is in his possession but I'm not sure how many Lottery managing directors walk around with walkie talkies and store the money in an old floral suitcase....

Newstalk 106

Friday, 26 June 2009 06:53 by Mark

For those of you that were up very early this morning you may have caught Ciaran from MicksGarage analysing the newspaper business pages on Newstalk 106 early morning business news with Conor Brophy. The news of Michael Jackson's demise meant that there was less time for extensive analysis of the business pages but when such a big celebrity dies, business affairs take a back seat for a while.

As an aside, the revised Newstalk morning show line-up of Claire Byrne and Ivan Yates seems to be working very well and we wish them well with the show.
