Take the Haynes Challenge

Wednesday, 3 March 2010 05:41 by Mark

This month we're encouraging everyone to take the 'Haynes Build Your Own Engine' Challenge.

It’s loads of fun for young and old and it’s a great educator about the workings of an engine. There’s no pressure in taking the challenge, it’s not a race and there are no finishing times requested. It’s designed to be taken at your leisure. The engine is a simplified version of a real car engine and the model is designed to be fun to put together for adults / kids (over ten yrs) or to teach your kids how a full-size four-stroke car engine works. It's a great starting point for anyone who is curious about engines.

Beware of fraudsters

Wednesday, 30 September 2009 09:56 by Mark

Beware of people who say they're from the Lottery and promiise you that you've won 1.5million dollars and all you have to do to get the money is wire 500dollars to them through Western Union. We've had a particularly persistent one trying his damndest to defraud us this week. This is his photo proof that the money is in his possession but I'm not sure how many Lottery managing directors walk around with walkie talkies and store the money in an old floral suitcase....

Newstalk 106

Friday, 26 June 2009 06:53 by Mark

For those of you that were up very early this morning you may have caught Ciaran from MicksGarage analysing the newspaper business pages on Newstalk 106 early morning business news with Conor Brophy. The news of Michael Jackson's demise meant that there was less time for extensive analysis of the business pages but when such a big celebrity dies, business affairs take a back seat for a while.

As an aside, the revised Newstalk morning show line-up of Claire Byrne and Ivan Yates seems to be working very well and we wish them well with the show.

A New Day

Friday, 8 May 2009 10:16 by Mark

Well we moved over the bank holiday weekend and we're settling nicely into our new place. For those looking to find us the address is Unit B2, Canal Bank, Park West, Nangor Rd, Dublin 12 - here's a map http://www.parkwest.ie/location.html . The good news (especially for those who have visited us offline in the past) is that we have more parking spaces here so have no worries in that regard. Park West is very accessible and for anyone looking to call into us for a part there is no issue - just call or e-mail us beforehand to make sure we have it at this depot.

We're looking forward to a good summer. It's almost roof box and roof bars season and the new premises means that we are geared up better than ever to make sure we can keep up with the orders. Bring it on...

Possibly the world's most extravagant car competition

Tuesday, 17 February 2009 04:54 by Mark

I'm launching the world's most extravagant car competition...

How often in life do you get the opportunity to win a Porsche 911 Classic Car Mug? The answer of course is not that often, certainly not in these recessionary times. However, we have teamed up with Haynes (the world's most talented producer of car manuals, and other car related accessories) to offer you this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a Porsche 911 Classic Car Mug.

To merely describe the Mug as the most advanced design in porcelian drinking vessels available on the market is doing it a grave disservice. The sleek lines of the Mug make it both aerodynamic and incredibly stylish. The handling is second to none, allowing for the smooth passage of liquids to the mouth area with minimal fuss. The interior is simple and serene, the paintwork is pristine, as you would expect from a classic Porsche, a testament to the many hours of expert workmanship inputted by our friends at Haynes. Rumour has it that The Stig test drove it and said that it produced the finest cup of camomile tea he had every consumed...

So if you want to drive your work colleagues into a jealous rage every time you take this bad boy out, just tell us in 20 words or less, where and when you intend to use the Porsche Classic Car Mug, should you be lucky enough to win it. We will announce the winner once we sift through the many thousands of entries. Get posting!
